Milwaukee Valve Company's BA-100/150 NSF Bronze Ball Valve has received certification for achieving the standards of ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for potable water. The BA-100 NSF (threaded end) and BA-150 NSF (solder end) are the first domestic bronze ball valves to meet this rigorous standard, as certified by the independent testing labs at Underwriter Laboratories (UL).
The BA-100/150 NSF is available in sizes ranging from 1/4'' to 2''. Standard features include glass-reinforced PTFE seats for high-temperature applications and no-leak reliability. And they come complete with a blow-out proof stem and adjustable stem gland. Rated at 600 WOG/150 SWP though 2, these valves are dependable for a wide variety of applications. They also conform to the standards of WW-V-35B, MSS SP-110 and are built with superior ASTM-grade materials of construction.
ANSI/NSF Standard 61 has been developed in response to amendments to the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act (SWDA), which requires that pipe, fittings and fixtures be lead-free. The BA-100/150 NSF also satisfies the lead-leaching standards set in NSF-61-8 for end-point devices (faucets), as stated in section 9. This more-stringent measurement guarantees safe use of the BA-100/150 NSF in drinking-water applications.
The requirements for meeting the ANSI/NSF standard include the following:
The production facility is audited annually to assure that only authorized materials are used in production;
Quality assurance and quality control procedures are documented and followed in fabrication, and all the requirements of the applicable standards are continued to be satisfied;
Products are sampled and retested on schedule; and
Labeling and product literature are accurate with respect to NSF-listed products.
The basic design of the BA-100/150 NSF features complete machining of all water-contact surfaces. This standard machining reduces the potential for lead to leach from the casting. No secondary manufacturing operations, such as acid baths, coatings or other chemical treatments are required for Milwaukee Valve to meet ANSI/NSF Standard 61.
Milwaukee Valve produces the BA-100/150 NSF domestically, at their highly-automated bronze foundry in Prairie du Sac, Wis. An industry leader in maintaining compliance with Federal regulatory standards, this modern foundry also gives Milwaukee Valve the advantage of domestic production. Producing the valves domestically allows the company to control the entire manufacturing process, from direct inspection of raw materials of construction, to maintaining design integrity, to assembly and final testing of every valve manufactured. The result of this precise attention to detail is extraordinary quality in every valve they make.
The quality of Milwaukee Valve's foundry and manufacturing operations allow specifying engineers to demand the superior quality of bronze valves over brass. The BA-100/150 NSF provides peace of mind with superior castings, heavier patterns and higher pressure/ temperature ratings. Compared with most brass alternatives, the BA-100/150 NSF can handle more rugged service conditions with a much longer lifecycle.
