Italmatch Chemicals, a producer of performance additives for lubricants, industrial water and process treatment, oil and gas, and plastics, acquires Sudamfos do Brasil, a Brazilian distribution company specializing in the marketing of phosphonates, phosphates and other specialty chemical products through its recently created local subsidiary Italmatch Do Brasil Partipações Ltda. The transaction reportedly gives Italmatch Chemicals a stronger presence in the Latin American market and reinforces its recent overseas growth and development in the Americas. It follows the recent acquisition of Compass Chemical International, a North American independent chemical company specializing in the production and marketing of water and oil performance additives.
Italmatch says it operates six manufacturing plants in Europe (Italy, Spain, Germany and U.K.), four in Asia Pacific (China and Japan) two in North America (USA) and sales/distribution subsidiaries in Belgium, China, Japan, India, Poland, Singapore and the United States. It reportedly employs over 500 workers.
