BASF Wins German Sustainability Award

BASF receives German Sustainability Award for resource efficiency.

BASF received a special award for resource efficiency at the 2015 German Sustainability Awards on November 27.  The jury recognized BASF’s verbund concept for resource and energy efficiency. BASF’s development of innovative business models for sustainability, such as the “mass balance” method, was also acknowledged by the jury, according to the company. The method uses renewable raw materials from the very beginning of the value chain in the existing production verbund and calculates fossil resource savings for each product.

BASF was also nominated in the category “Most Sustainable Large Companies” and was among the three leading companies. The German Sustainability Award recognizes companies that make significant contributions to sustainable development on a national and international basis.
