New York Gastropub Adopts Chem Lab Theme

New Yorkers in search of a pint and a hearty meal may soon turn to culinary chemistry. Make that Khemistry (or more specifically, Khemistry Bar), a new American gastropub in New York’s Bed-Stuy neighborhood featuring a vintage apothecary and chemistry lab theme, according to DNAinfo.

The bar and restaurant, which debuted on New Year’s Eve and features locally-sourced and organic menu items, houses old-school classroom chairs; a long, reclaimed wood desk for communal eating; a library card catalog turned hostess stand; a concrete bartop resembling a chemistry table with lab stools, and brown apothecary bottles behind the bar. The Lab, a 3,000-square-foot backyard with an outdoor kitchen, bar and beer garden is set to open in the spring.
