Dow Plans Workforce Cuts

The Dow Chemical Company is set to cut three percent of its global workforce.

The Dow Chemical Company plans to cut 3 percent of its global workforce or some 1,500 to 1,750 positions, according to The New York Times. The cuts come in the wake of Dow’s deal with Olin to sell off a major piece of its chlorine operations. According to the article, Dow has been under pressure from Third Point hedge fund to break up its specialty chemical and petrochemical businesses.
