Michigan Virtual Hiring Event Invites Job Seekers Interested In Chemical Industry

March 29, 2021
Michigan Works! Southeast partners with local chemical industry to bring jobs to Lenawee County.

Job seekers will have the opportunity to interview for dozens of high paying jobs at a virtual hiring event called “Chemistry Attracts Successful Employees” or “C.H.A.S.E”—a partnership between the Chemical Collaborative, Align Lenawee, The Lenawee Intermediate School District, Michigan Works! Southeast and the state of Michigan.

Anderson Development and Wacker will be connecting with job seekers on Thursday, April 1, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Michigan Works! Southeast is working with the Lenawee Intermediate School District and Align Lenawee to connect all interested job seekers, including high school students, college students and recent graduates to the opportunity. The virtual event is free and open to the public. Dozens of jobs will be featured at the event including skilled trades, industrial maintenance and industrial electricians.

“The C.H.A.S.E Hiring Event is for everyone, including people with no background in the chemical industry,” says Mike Ayre, HR director at Wacker Chemical.  “You can be interested in maintenance, working in an office or a hands-on role like a production operator, lab tech and other industrial maintenance skilled trades.”

Half of the careers available at the C.H.A.S.E. virtual hiring event are entry-level, with many of them requiring little or no background in the chemical industry.  Job seekers can participate by registering at mwse.org/chase.

Attendees are encouraged to complete their online registration, upload their resume and participate in Michigan Works! Southeast’s free virtual workshops to learn how to succeed in virtual interviews.  Young adults aged 16-24 can take advantage of additional resources and can visit mwse.org/jobseekers to learn more.

“This is an awesome opportunity for everyone, especially young adults who are looking to start their career,” says Shamar Herron, executive director of Michigan Works! Southeast.  “Graduating seniors won’t have to go far to find a lucrative and fulfilling career!”

Michigan Works! Southeast connects employers and job seekers to a better future in Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, and Washtenaw Counties as part of a statewide Michigan Works! system.
