GE releases a video documenting the use of the company’s chemistry, process inhibitors, cooling solutions and TrueSense continuous monitoring at the Americas Styrenics (AmSty) plant in Louisiana. AmSty makes styrene, a petrochemical used in the manufacturing of a wide range of products including packaging, automotive applications, electronic parts, rubber, housewares, construction materials and toys. The plant needs to meet strict environmental requirements for air, water and waste and must ensure the water recovered from the steam in the production process is pure. According to GE, the facility has been operating continuously for three years with no downtime. AmSty has also eliminated corrosion and deposition, and reduced polymer growth and nitrogen contamination.
