Aug. 18, 2014
Siemens Large Drives Applications Division will conduct a 60-minute informational webinar on the recently added section 316(b) to the Clean Water Act.

Siemens Large Drives Applications Division (LD AP) will conduct a 60-minute informational webinar on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 to address the recently added section 316(b) to the Clean Water Act. The new standards will affect more than 1,000 existing power plants and facilities, according to the company. Industry experts will discuss how section 316(b) impacts operations and how facilities can achieve compliance while lowering facilities’ total cost of ownership (TCO).

Section 316(b) of the Clean Water Act requires the EPA to issue regulations on the design and operation of cooling water intake structures to minimize negative environmental impact. Webinar hosts Al Giesecke, director of advanced drive applications at Siemens, and Dr. Tom Englert, P.E., Ph.D., vice president of HDR, will expound on those regulations during the webinar.

Dr. Englert is a subject matter expert on the Clean Water Act. He will offer insight into the new technology requirements dictated by section 316(b) and what they mean for power and chemical plants, pulp and paper facilities, and the nuclear industry. Giesecke will provide ways to comply with the new regulations and discuss how integrating VFDs into facility processes help regulate water usage. He will also explain how SIEMENS SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY VFDs meet the new EPA regulations.

Registration for the webinar is free, but space is limited. All registered attendees will receive a certificate of completion and one professional development hour. For more information, visit: www.siemens.com
