U.S. Water is selected as a finalist by the R&D 100 Award Program for its PhosZero antiscalant and corrosion inhibitor, cooling water chemistry.

U.S. Water is selected as a finalist by the R&D 100 Award Program for PhosZero, its antiscalant and corrosion inhibitor, cooling water chemistry. The St. Michael, Minn.-based company provides water-management solutions.

PhosZero’s sustainable technology reportedly provides scale and corrosion protection while exhibiting reduced aquatic toxicity. Phosphorus is used in virtually all antiscalants on the market, but phosphorus discharge has become heavily regulated due to adverse environmental impacts and is severely restricted by many state regulatory agencies. The PhosZero chemistry is an effective antiscalant without phosphorus compounds, according to the company.

Winners will be announced in early November during the annual R&D 100 Conference in Oxon Hill, Md.
