Gas Technology Institute Turns 75

June 13, 2016
GTI celebrates more than seven decades developing energy solutions.

The research, development and training organization Gas Technology Institute (GTI) celebrates its 75th anniversary. GTI works to realize the potential of natural gas and other energy resources and make them economically and environmentally sustainable while reducing energy costs for consumers, according to the organization.

GTI R&D projects over the past seven decades have expanded the supply and reduced the environmental footprint of unconventional gas production, according to the organization. GTI has reportedly generated cleaner ways to use coal resources, and its efforts to convert wood into renewable “drop-in” gasoline in the organization's integrated biorefinery have resulted in a sustainable biofuel with 74% lower greenhouse gas emissions than petroleum-based fuel.
