ACC Elects Board of Directors, New Members

Newest board members include executives from Honeywell, Shell Chemical, Covestro, NOVA Chemicals, Hexion, Afton Chemical, W.R. Grace and Sasol.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC), at its annual meeting on June 7, approved 28 individuals to serve on its board of directors for new or extended terms beginning January 1, 2024.

“The expertise, knowledge and product diversity reflected in our board of directors is a tremendous asset to ACC,” says ACC President and CEO Chris Jahn. Our Board’s leadership will continue to guide us as we navigate an unprecedented era of challenge and change as we pursue the goal of a world made better by chemistry.”

The ACC Board of Directors sets council policy, provides strategic direction and approves advocacy priorities and the annual budget.

The following individuals were approved to serve on the board for a term beginning on January 1, 2024 and ending on December 31, 2024:

  • Lucian Boldea, president of performance materials and technology – Honeywell
  • Machteld de Haan, executive vice president designee, chemicals and products – Shell Chemical LP
  • Samir Hifri, chairman and president designee – Covestro LLC
  • Roger Kearns, president and CEO – NOVA Chemicals
  • Michael Lefenfeld, president and CEO – Hexion Inc.
  • Brian Paliotti, president – Afton Chemical Corp.
  • Ed Sparks, CEO – W.R. Grace & Co.
  • Eric Stouder, president of the Americas – Sasol (USA) Corp.

ACC also approved the below individuals for terms beginning on January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2025:

  • Bruce Chinn, CEO – Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC
  • Dean Cordle, president and CEO – A C & S Inc.
  • Jim Nicholson – co-chair of the board, PVS Chemicals Inc.
  • John Paro, chairman, president & CEO – Hallstar
  • Tom Shepherd, chairman & CEO – The Shepherd Chemical Co.
  • For terms beginning on January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2026:
  • Scott Behrens, president and CEO – Stepan Co.
  • Cindy Boiter, EVP and president, chemicals – Milliken Chemical, A Division of Milliken and Co.
  • Peter Huntsman, chairman, president and CEO – Huntsman Corp.
  • Conrad Keijzer, CEO – Clariant Corp.
  • Robert King, executive vice president crop protection – Corteva Agriscience
  • Rebecca Liebert, CEO – The Lubrizol Corp.
  • Guillermo Novo, chairman & CEO – Ashland Inc.
  • John Panichella, president & CEO – Solenis
  • Randy Pogue, president & CEO – Americas Styrenics LLC
  • Alastair Port, executive president – Indorama Ventures
  • Brian Powers, vice president for the Americas – SABIC
  • Larry Ryan, president for the Americas, EVP for performance formulations – Nouryon
  • Andy Tometich, CEO – Quaker Houghton
  • Peter Vanacker, CEO – LyondellBasell
  • Michael Willome, group CEO – Synthomer Plc

The current Board also approved four new manufacturing members, two new associate members and three new Responsible Care Partners at the annual meeting.

New manufacturing members are:

  • ALTIVIA, a producer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, ketones, specialty phosgene derivatives and various tolling products.
  • LG Electronics U.S.A., a global producer of petrochemicals, state-of-the-art high-tech specialty materials and life sciences products.
  • Valtris Specialty Chemicals, manufacturer of specialty chemical additives and precursors.
  • Viridis Chemical Co., a Nebraska-based operation generating renewable and bio-based ethanol products.

Associate members approved include:

  • AlixPartners LLP, a performance improvement and risk mitigation company.
  • Capgemini, a technology company that focuses on strategy and design to manage operations.

ACC’s newest Responsible Care Partners:

  • Blue Water Shipping, a Danish firm providing global air, water and road logistics for large project moves.
  • Pulido Transport, an asset-based carrier that provides custom transportation solutions for the delivery of chemicals in the oil & gas industry.
  • Univar Solutions, a member of the chemical distribution industry.

ACC’s Responsible Care Partner program emphasizes the ethic of safety and sustainability to organizations in the chemical supply chain, including logistics, transportation and distribution, among others. Partners adhere to the same Responsible Care commitments as manufacturing members.
