Researcher on process analytical technologies receives honor
Elena Simone
The European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) has awarded its 2017 Excellence Award in Crystallization to Elena Simone. EFCE cited her PhD thesis “Application of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) for the Better Understanding and Control of the Crystallization of Polymorphic and Impure Systems” and her other research papers that “demonstrated her innovative approaches to crystallization research, which are directly applicable to industry.”
The thesis was written while at Loughborough University, Loughborough, U.K. She is now a lecturer at the University of Leeds, Leeds, U.K.
Simone received the award at the 20th International Symposium on Industrial Crystallization in Dublin, Ireland.
Many facilities handle dangerous processes and products on a daily basis. Keeping everything under control demands well-trained people working with the best equipment.
