The European Federation of Chemical Engineers, Brussels, has named Prof. Joachim Werther of the Hamburg University of Technology as recipient of the 2015 Jacques Villermaux Medal. Prof. Werther is receiving the honor for his contributions to particle technology over his 40-year career.
Werther, a professor at the school’s Institute of Solids Process Engineering and Particle Technology, specializes in the use of fluidized beds as reactors and is considered an expert on fluidization, chemical looping technology and solids process flow simulation.
Prof. Werther will receive the medal at the 10th European Congress of Chemical Engineering, which will take place in Nice, France, in late September. During the ceremony he will present a talk on flow sheet simulation of solids processes.
