Roundup: Chemical Industry Products to Watch - August 2026

High-performance pH/ORP sensing, radar level transmitters, scalable gas and flame detection, ribbon blending and high-pressure pumping round out this month's products to check out.

Digital pH/ORP Sensor Simplifies Installation and Maintenance

The Rosemount 350A high-performance pH/ORP sensor from Emerson is designed for reliable measurement in harsh process conditions while simplifying installation and maintenance. The digital sensor converts and transmits pH/ORP data through a Modbus interface, reducing susceptibility to electrical noise.

An M12 quick-connect cable supports plug-and-play commissioning and can reduce wiring-related installation errors, according to the company. The sensor is compatible with other Rosemount digital liquid analysis sensors to support standardization and simplified spare-parts management.

The sensor stores calibration data and diagnostic information onboard, supporting bench calibration and providing maintenance teams with sensor health indicators and event history. These capabilities can support troubleshooting and maintenance planning.

The sensor is available with retractable mounting styles, titanium body options and selectable reference electrolytes for challenging process conditions involving high temperature, pressure, coating or poisoning.

Radar Level Transmitters Provide Noncontact Measurement

The Optiwave 1530 and Optiwave 1560 radar FMCW level transmitters from Krohne provide noncontact measurement of solids and liquids. The Optiwave 1530 has a measuring range of 0-15 m, while the 1560 extends measurement to 30 m.

Both transmitters use a 4° beam angle for measurement in narrow vessels and areas with internal obstructions. A high dynamic range supports measurement on dusty surfaces, foamy or agitated liquids, condensation and poorly reflecting media. The units have a flush-mounted PVDF lens antenna with a self-draining design to help prevent buildup and maintain the radar signal.

Fully potted electronics protect internal components from dust, condensation, vibration and shocks. The transmitters have virtually no dead zone and are designed for drift-free operation without lifetime recalibration, according to the company.

Bluetooth connectivity supports remote setup through the Opticheck Level Mobile app, while HART communication enables control system integration. Built-in diagnostics monitor device health and on-site verification can be performed without interrupting the process.

Gas and Flame Detection Controller Supports Scalable Monitoring

The MCX32-TP gas and flame detection controller from Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection is designed to monitor gas detection sensors and other field devices with scalable channel capacity. Standard configurations support 4, 16, 32 or 64 channels, with the architecture scalable to 128 channels.

The controller features a touchscreen HMI available in sizes from 5 to 15 in. for system configuration, real-time monitoring and alarm visualization. Communication options include Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP and BACnet, along with MQTT and web-based remote access.

Dual LAN ports, multiple serial interfaces and modular I/O options support integration with existing plant infrastructure. The controller is available in standard or custom configurations with configurable enclosures and wireless integration capabilities.

The modular architecture allows the system to accommodate additional sensors and distributed assets as detection requirements change.

500-Cu-Ft Ribbon Blender Handles Bulk Solid Materials

The Munson Machinery HD-6-1/2-15 SS ribbon blender blends up to 500 cu ft (14.16 m³) of bulk solid materials with low or high percentages of liquids. Its split double-helical agitator uses inner and outer blades moving in opposing directions to achieve batch uniformity in typically 5 to 10 minutes.

One-piece welded construction, heavy-gauge walls and reinforced end panels allow the outer blades to operate within 1/16 to 1/8 in. (1.6 to 3.2 mm) of the vessel wall, minimizing residual material after discharge and reducing cleaning time.

A hinged lid with a removable safety-interlocked grate provides access to the vessel interior for cleaning and inspection. The flange-mounted agitator is driven by a 150-hp (111.9-kW) motor and can be hoisted vertically for servicing.

The stainless steel blender is available with industrial, pharmaceutical and food-grade finishes. Options include liquid spray lines, independently driven choppers or intensifiers, multiple discharges, heating or cooling jackets and CIP manifolds.

High-Pressure Multistage Pump Simplifies Maintenance

The CUP-BB3 heavy-duty, axially split, multistage horizontal pump from Celeros Flow Technology is designed for medium- and high-pressure services. The pump supports capacities up to 3,000 m³/hr and delivery heads up to 3,350 m, with operating speeds up to 6,500 rpm.

The pump allows inspection and balancing without complete rotor disassembly, while complete rotor changeout can reportedly be completed in less than eight hours. A double-volute casing minimizes radial thrust loads while back-to-back impeller arrangements reduce axial thrust during high-pressure operation.

Optional double-suction first-stage impellers can improve NPSH performance under challenging suction conditions. Flanged auxiliary connections, integral wear rings and a robust rotor assembly support extended service intervals. Material options include NACE-compatible configurations for corrosive process environments.

Designed in accordance with API 610 and API 682 standards, the pump is available as a standalone unit or packaged system with motors, gearboxes, lubrication systems, controls and instrumentation.
