2011 Salary Survey: What Respondents Think About How Challenging Their Jobs Are

As in the previous year, the challenge and stimulation of the work lead to a high degree of satisfaction, according to 72% (1,232) of respondents. Salary and benefits follows at 56% (959) as the next leading factor in satisfaction. Other factors readers say contribute to a highly satisfying job include: colleagues, 46% (787); the work environment, 42% (715); and making products that help people, 33% (569). (Editor's note: respondents could choose multiple categories.)

How the Data Were Gathered
A total of 1,722 respondents participated in this year's survey.

From January through March, respondents accessed the survey questionnaire via a link listed on the www.chemicalprocessing.com website, and in e-newsletters and e-mail blasts sent to readers. Additionally, those who follow Chemical Processing on Twitter at Chem_Processing and Facebook at Chemical Processing Magazine were encouraged to participate.
