Research funding granted before the UK leaves the European Union will be guaranteed by the Treasury, according to an article in Chemistry World. The announcement by Chancellor Philip Hammond is reportedly an effort to remove some uncertainty in the funding status of UK-based researchers after the Brexit vote.
According to the article, “Horizon 2020 research funding granted before the UK leaves the EU, and structural and investment projects signed before the autumn statement, will be guaranteed by the Treasury.” The Treasury will reportedly assess projects signed after the autumn statement but while the UK remains a UK member.
