Cortec Introduces CX-RV2.6 Pneumatic Pressure Relief System

Sept. 3, 2020
Designed as a replacement to purely mechanical devices, the CX-RV2.6 is a rugged, all-pneumatic system that requires only 80 PSI minimum air supply to function.

Cortec, manufacturer of API valves, launches the new Cortec CX-RV2.6 Pneumatic Pressure Relief System. The system, API 6A PSL 3 monogrammable and comprised of SIL 3 rated components, provides rapid pressure relief within high-pressure systems including mud pumps, managed pressure drilling manifolds and frac relief systems. Designed as a replacement for purely mechanical devices that are less reliable, according to the company, the CX-RV2.6 is a rugged, all-pneumatic system that requires only 80 PSI minimum air supply to function.

The new, simple design offers precise control and repeatability over hundreds or even thousands of pressure tripping events. The design is reportedly proven through extensive validation over thousands of pressure cycles with consistent tripping results within 1% or less of the pressure set point. Users can set an auto and manual reset mode and be reassured that the relief valve will function efficiently when needed, protecting personnel and preserving operational safety on site, according to the company.
