Chemical Industries Association hails approval of fracking application as the start of UK “energy revolution.”

The approval of a fracking application in England is hailed as the start of the UK “energy revolution,” according to an article from Energy Voice. The Chemical Industries Association backed the North Yorkshire County Council’s decision, which was hotly contested by protestors, as one that “will ensure that the UK becomes increasingly self reliant on its future energy needs.” 

The application was made by Third Energy to extract shale gas at a site in Ryedale, according to the article. It is reportedly the first time in four years that an application to carry out fracking in England has been granted.
