Chemical giant blasts Scottish government’s position on fracking.

It appears that petrochemical giant Ineos, which wants to set up a fracking industry in Scotland, has lost patience with the government’s stance on fracking, according to an article from Herald Scotland. Ineos reportedly blasted the Scottish National Party's (SNP) position as “absurd,” saying the drawn out decision-making process is costing jobs and investment.

The SNP is carrying out new studies before making an “evidence led” decision on green-lighting the gas extraction practice, according to the article. A decision is reportedly not expected until sometime next year and a public consultation over fracking has yet to begin. Gary Hayward, CEO of Ineos Shale, notes the success of fracking operations in the U.S. and says in the article, "The fact that Scotland is choosing not to end the moratorium and avoid the financial and carbon cost of transporting shale gas by utilizing its own underground wealth is absurd.”
