Holz Rubber Company has recently updated its Chemical Resistance of Elastomers Specification Guide with additional information. The 20-page guide, which has been a valuable industry resource in the rubber expansion joint market for the last thirty years, includes elastomer performance ratings for more than 2,100 different chemicals.Rubber expansion joints are flexible connectors fabricated of elastomers designed to compensate for movements in piping systems due to thermal and mechanical vibration and growth. An expansion joint system protects pipes and flanges from pre-mature cracking, and breakage. The guide groups chemical resistance in four categories, (excellent, good, conditional, and not recommended), matrixed with ten rubber, (elastomeric) compounds, (Natural, Urethane, Neoprene, Nitrile, Butyl, Hypalon®, Epdm, Viton®, Teflon®, Silicone.) If a particular chemical is not listed, specifiers may call a special toll-free telephone number within the guide to receive a specific recommendation from Holz Rubber Company. In addition to chemical resistance data, standard material selection data, elastomers properties, and information helpful in specifying a rubber expansion joint is also included in the guide. For a free copy of the guide, call Holz Rubber Company at 800-285-1600, or e-mail yourrequest to [email protected].
