Hurricane Harvey Forces TPS 2017 Rescheduling

Sept. 5, 2017
The event has been rescheduled for December, with the technical sessions and exhibition to be held Dec. 12-14, 2017, and short courses to be held Dec. 11.

The 46th Turbomachinery and 33rd International Pump Users Symposia (TPS 2017) is rescheduled due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey on Houston and surrounding areas. The event is rescheduled for December, with the technical sessions and exhibition to be held Dec. 12-14, 2017, and short courses to be held Dec. 11. The location remains the same—the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston. TPS was originally scheduled for Sept. 12-14, 2017, with short courses on Sept. 11.

Officials with the Turbomachinery Laboratory at Texas A&M University—host of TPS—the George R. Brown Convention Center and the City of Houston determined early Tuesday that rescheduling the event is the best course of action due to the devastating flooding Houston has experienced over the last several days.

“Our hearts go out to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey,” says Greg Gammon, director of operations for TPS. “We’re disappointed to have to move the event, but the last thing we want to do is impede recovery efforts in the area or cause additional safety hazards. We hope everyone is able to join us at TPS in December.”

TPS staff will continue to monitor the situation. Updates will be posted on the TPS website. Please check this page before contacting the symposium office to minimize the number of calls and emails.
