Arclin announced it has completed the acquisition of DuPont’s aramids business for approximately $1.8 billion.

According to the company, the transaction adds the Kevlar and Nomex brands to Arclin’s portfolio and significantly expands its presence in aerospace, electrical infrastructure, electric vehicles, personal protection and defense markets. Arclin said the acquisition also broadens its manufacturing footprint in Europe and Asia and adds approximately 1,800 employees globally.

The company said the aramids business strengthens its position across construction, infrastructure, transportation and fire protection applications as demand grows for advanced protective materials.

Arclin added that it plans to invest in manufacturing capabilities and innovation to support long-term growth of the Kevlar and Nomex product lines across performance-critical applications.

The acquisition comes as DuPont continues to expand its workplace safety offerings. Earlier this year, the company launched an on-site field assessment program designed to help facilities in the U.S. and Canada evaluate workplace hazards and improve selection of chemical protective apparel.
