The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) announces that Paul J. Hirsh joins the association as senior vice president of industry development and strategic partnerships. He will drive thought-leadership for the specialty chemical industry and focus on business growth and market building activities in core market segments, according to the organization.

Hirsh brings more than 15 years of experience in the chemical industry at various trade organizations, including the American Chemistry Council and the National Association of Chemical Distributors. For the past five years, Hirsh was vice president of membership and strategic partnerships at the American Composites Manufacturers Association. During his tenure, he reportedly increased member recruitment and retention rates and created a market intelligence program.

In addition to Hirsh, SOCMA also welcomes Jared Rothstein, senior manager, regulatory affairs and Matthew S. Moedritzer, manager, legal and government relations. Rothstein comes to SOCMA from the Kellen Company, where he served as account executive for organizations in the building and construction space. He led technical and regulatory programs as well as strategic initiatives for a number of trade associations.

Moedritzer is an attorney who works with SOCMA's government relations team on policy matters related to environmental, health and safety law in the specialty chemical industry.  Previously, he worked in-house for Hach Company, which manufactures and distributes analytical instruments and chemical reagents used to test the quality of water and other liquid solutions.
