Revenue from fracking wastewater treatment and recycle systems in the United States is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 30.3% to reach $3.8 billion by 2025, according to an article in Environmental Leader citing a report from Navigant Research. The report’s author tells the publication that advanced oxidation and reverse osmosis will emerge as the most popular treatment technologies.

Modular treatment systems for fracking wastewater treatment will also likely overshadow more centralized treatment technologies, according to the article. Modular systems are easier to transport to the many different areas where oil and gas producers operate and they represent a much smaller capital investment than their centralized system counterparts.
