I think we can expect to see new legislation introduce fairly early in this next session. As we have discussed before, Peter King (R.NY) will be the incoming chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. King has said that his committee will take up the reauthorization of CFATS. As we have said, he seems to support a continuation of the current mandate and does not favor the controversial Inherently Safer Technologies (IST) approach.
Congress just passed a funding amendment, meant to extend the budget until the beginning of March 2011. I will do my best to keep you posted on any changes, so check back here for more info. In the meantime, please have a wonderful holiday.
