The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) releases a new report, “Renewable Chemical Platforms Building the Biobased Economy,” to document the rapid expansion of renewable chemical platforms and applications around the world. The report profiles 100 companies located in 16 countries – from small startups to large brand manufacturers – that are commercializing renewable chemical applications.
“On a global scale, BIO estimates the value of biofuels, renewable chemicals and polymers, enzymes, biobased materials and the agricultural inputs is approximately $355.28 billion,” says Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section. “In capturing a snapshot of the industry’s status today, the report illustrates the rapid evolution of the biobased economy.”
The new report:
- Assesses the international biobased economy, profiling 100 companies from 16 countries.
- Succinctly describes each company’s products, technology, potential markets, partnerships and funding.
- Highlights the commercialization stage of renewable chemical biorefineries and platform technologies around the world.
- Illustrates the impact of the rapidly evolving and growing renewable chemical industry on the global manufacturing economy.
The annual BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology will be held July 16 – 19 in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
