Navigating The Updated Web Site

In business it’s a best practice to keep your image fresh and your product even fresher. That’s why we have redesigned the home page of ChemicalProcessing.com. We evaluated how we present information to you and used sound methodologies to re-invent our look. We haven’t eliminated any information – just improved how we package it.For example, the “Top Stories” slideshow is designed to provide 10-second previews of our most important articles. This feature allows you to get a bigger glimpse at what these significant articles are all about. Within this box, you can slow down or stop the slide show or fast forward through the articles. If you find something you like, click the article and you will be taken right to its page.Additionally, we have highlighted “related reading you may enjoy.” This feature will help you better manage your time by putting similar articles right at your fingertips.Below that section we feature “What Your Peers Are Reading” and “Just Posted” items. We realize that time is in short supply. By highlighting the stories that others find interesting (as determined by the number of page visits), we are enabling you to quickly target information that will help you do your job better, faster and smarter. The “Just Posted” items will keep you ahead of the curve with a sneak peek at articles in the next month’s issue, as well as Web-exclusive articles and pertinent industry and vendor news. This section also features the most current Ask the Experts question and answer. Each portion of this “Just Posted” section features a “more” button that will allow you to view every single article, news item or Ask the Experts Q&A that has been posted to the Web site.To the right of “Just Posted” we’ve added a new feature: “Editors’ Corner.” This area gives our editors a spot to highlight what they think should interest you. Indeed, this month Managing Editor Ken Schnepf is asking readers to partake in the 2009 Salary Survey by visiting http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/96210/cp-2009-salary-job-satisfaction-survey. One lucky survey participant will win a 120GB iPod classic just for taking part.Other sections of the Web site include an enhanced “New Product” section that lets you scroll through the eight most-recent new products posted to the site, and a “Critical Topics” section that houses five topics chosen by our editorial team to help you better navigate business: Energy Efficiency, Plant Optimization, Green Technology, Water & Wastewater Treatment, and Workforce and Operator Performance.Of course, all of these important sections are contained in the menu bar at the very top of the page. Just hover over the menu tabs and drop-down menus will appear. You can click right on specific topic. If you want to read all of Dirk Willard’s Field Notes columns, simply hover over the “Perspectives” tab and click on Field Notes. With one click you will arrive at the current column. Scroll down and you will have access to all of Willard’s columns dating back to 2006 when he started the column for Chemical Processing.We hope this new format is more aesthetically appealing and easier to navigate.
