Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. announces the customizable SEL-3351 Substation Computing Platform designed to replace office-grade PC's in control house environments and the SEL-3301 Protocol Gateway for connecting older and newer equipment. These new computing products are designed to improve reliability and decrease maintenance in electrical substations and plant facilities.
SEL computing products are designed and tested to meet IEEE C37.90 and IEC requirements, have no moving parts or fans, operate over the range of -40° to +75°C, and have an innovative watchdog processor to detect and alarm system problems. The products are also backed by the SEL worldwide, 10-year product warranty.
The SEL-3351 System Computing Platform is a customized solution configured by the SEL Systems and Services Division (SSD). SEL-3351 configuration options include protocol conversion, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), event report retrieval, Sequential Events Recorder (SER) reporting, automatic control, software logic, self-diagnostics, system configuration, and data concentration. SSD will also load customer-specified software and hardware. In addition, SSD provides engineering services, including design and configuration of substation automation and integration systems.
The SEL-3301 Protocol Gateway provides protocol conversion to connect older and newer equipment. System engineers can upgrade master and remote systems at different times, allowing them to phase capital expenditures and prolong the useful life of legacy assets. The SEL-3301 converts five base protocols. On request, SEL can provide additional protocols from a library of 108 available protocols.
