BASF Open Innovation Contest Seeks Sustainable Energy Storage Solutions

BASF’s Open Innovation Contest aims to find ideas for energy storage from renewable energy sources. The contest calls for sustainable technologies that are capable of storing power from the grid and feeding back into it. Together with companies, scientists, startups and inventors, BASF seeks efficient and financially viable solutions to store electricity on a long-term basis. Innovative chemistry should play a central role in the submitted proposals.

Ideas can be submitted online until June 2, 2015, at NineSights. A jury of BASF experts and external specialists will choose the best proposals and award up to five winners. The winners will be announced in November 2015. Each winner will receive €100,000. The winners will also have the opportunity to collaborate with BASF in a research project based on their ideas. The competition is part of BASF’s co-creation program, Creator Space.
