ATI Wah Chang To Honor Three At CSC09

Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI) Wah Chang, a diversified specialty metals producer that serves the chemical process industry/oil and gas industries among others, will present three chemical processing industry awards for distinguished service at the 7th International Corrosion Solution Conference (CSC09) this fall. The event will take place in Park City, Utah, September 20 - 24, 2009.

The award recipients are:

B.J. Sanders  
CSC09 will recognize B. J. Sanders, a Professional Engineer with 44 years experience in the petrochemical manufacturing industry, with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

An expert in the application of reactive and refractory alloys for severe environments, Sanders has been a consultant to processing companies for the past nine years. He retired from Monsanto and Sterling Chemicals. 

Gian Pietro Testa 
ATI Wah Chang will honor Gian Pietro Testa, a chemical engineer with Saipem, who has more than 30 years experience in process chemistry, primarily in the fertilizer field. Testa will receive a Materials Innovation Award.

Since joining the Milan, Italy-based Snamprogetti (now Saipem) in 1977, he has worked as process engineer on many projects focused on increasing plant capacity, reducing energy consumption, lowering cost plant implementation, and eliminating pollution

Jerry Burtner
CSC09 will recognize Jerry Burtner, president of Power Cleaning Specialists, with its first Rusty Award.

Burtner has been very active in the processing industry for many years. The Air Force veteran began a long career in the CPI after graduating from Tulsa University in 1956. The Rusty Award winner started acid cleaning large utility generators for Dow Chemical in 1958 and has been active in maintenance and shutdown work ever since. Today he operates cleaning crews in 29 states and 5 Canadian provinces. Since 1981, his company has serviced shipyards, tank terminals, paper mills, refineries, aluminum, plywood, and nitric acid plants as well as other operations.
