K-State Offers Powders And Bulk Solids Flow Course

March 14, 2016
The new Bulk Solids Innovation Center at Kansas State University hosts “Powders and Bulk Solids Flow in Bins, Hoppers and Feeders” course.

K-State offers course in powders and bulk solids flow.

The new Bulk Solids Innovation Center at Kansas State University offers “Powders and Bulk Solids Flow in Bins, Hoppers and Feeders” course April 12-14, 2016. The course will cover topics related to powders and bulk solids flow in bins, hoppers and chutes. Course topics include:
  • Flow properties and flow property testing
  • Material characterization testing
  • Design of bins, hoppers, chutes and feeders
  • Moisture, caking and agglomeration effects
  • Flow aids
  • Discrete element method
  • Particle segregation and solutions

The course also includes a site visit to a bulk solids handling equipment manufacturer.

The course is recommended for those responsible for designing, improving or troubleshooting powders and bulk solids handling systems including engineers, operators, managers and technicians in the plastics, chemical, mineral, food, pharmaceutical and grain and feed industries.

The course will be held at the new Bulk Solids Innovation Center in Salina, Kansas. The Center contains equipment and controls for measurement of actual bulk solids behaviors including storage, conveying, gravity flow, blending, segregation, degradation, dust collection, safety and air pollution control. The facility allows students to get training on how to operate and problem solve with this equipment. The registration deadline is April 5, 2016.
