Mitsui Chemicals Inc. will begin accepting online applications for the 2024 Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Awards on Sept. 1.
Award categories include the Catalysis Science Award and the Catalysis Science Award for Creative Work, which recognize outstanding achievements in the field of catalysis science. To date, the awards have been presented to 30 researchers within Japan and overseas.
To qualify for the Chemicals Catalysis Science Award, researchers must be affiliated with a university or public research institution, and they need to have demonstrated extraordinary achievements in the field of catalysis science research (prize may be awarded to up to one winner). Applicants must be no more than 47 years old as of April 1, 2023. The winner will receive a plaque and prize of 5 million yen.
To qualify for the Chemicals Catalysis Science Award for Creative work, researchers must be affiliated with a university or public research institution, and must demonstrate creative achievements in the field of catalysis science research (prize may be awarded to up to two winners). Applicants must be no more than 37 years old as of April 1, 2023. Winners will receive a plaque and prize of 1 million yen.
The application period will end on Dec. 31. Winners will be chosen by a selection committee organized by Mitsui Chemicals, consisting of several eminent academics in the field of catalysis science and a Mitsui Chemicals representative. The selection committee will announce the winners around June 2024 (details will be published on the website and in professional journals, among other sources).
