June 25, 2013
FAB-8 and Flow-Cal Host more than 300 industry leaders.

Flow-Cal Inc. set an attendance record at its 14th annual users group conference, Flow-Cal recently reported. The FAB-8 (Flow-Cal Advisory Board) and Flow-Cal hosted more than 300 industry leaders and 60 companies at this year’s event.

The three-day conference in Oklahoma City included a series of roundtable discussions and classes focusing on both the measurement industry and the Flow-Cal suite of products. Attendees included gas and liquid measurement leaders representing each industry sector, including production, midstream, transmission and distribution.

The FAB-8 consists of eight industry leaders, each representing a critical link within the energy value chain. The FAB-8 represents Flow-Cal's customers by providing application guidance and helping the Flow-Cal product managers set priorities. Participation from the Flow-Cal user community during the event has been steadily increasing, according to Flow-Cal.

The user-led classes shared actual business processes and case studies, helping attendees identify ways to more effectively use the Flow-Cal application suite. The roundtable sessions, led by the FAB-8 directors, provided a platform for the users to exchange ideas and discuss their needs relating to the future direction of the Flow-Cal software applications.

David Miller, the director of standards for the American Petroleum Institute (API), led a keynote address on shale gas opportunities and challenges. His presentation discussed the changing landscape of the energy industry and its influence upon the API regulatory work and associated standards. In addition, Aaron Stiles, a Republican state representative from Oklahoma, was a guest speaker at the annual customer appreciation dinner.  He provided updates on recent legislation passed pertaining to the oil and gas industry.

The annual Flow-Cal users group provides a forum for sharing practical information that will help companies streamline operations and create efficiencies throughout their organization. The 15th annual conference will take place in Houston.
