Videos Celebrate Earth Day

Videos focus on work that chemists and chemical engineers do to keep water safe and available.

The American Chemical Society, Washington, D.C., in commemoration of Earth Day, April 15th, has released three videos that focus on work that chemists and chemical engineers are doing to keep water safe and available. The first, “Transforming Tech Toys,” shows how a UCLA professor modifies common electronic gadgets to make them mobile laboratories. The second, “All About Droughts,” looks at a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation scientist’s efforts to find new ways to re-use water. The third, “Cleaning Up Our Water,” features efforts by a Dublin City University researcher to remove pharmaceuticals that wind up in the water supply.
