China Overtakes U.S. In Chemistry Research

China experiences double-digit growth in published research in the past two years while the U.S. output drops.

There’s been a change at the top. According to ChemistryWorld, China is now the largest producer of high-quality chemistry research – a position the U.S. has held for three consecutive years. China reportedly enjoyed double-digit growth in published research in the past two years while U.S. output lagged.

The ranking from Nature tracks countries’ contributions to papers published in 82 leading journals. The other nations in the top ten reportedly maintained their positions: Germany, Japan, U.K., France, South Korea, India, Canada and Spain.
