Danish Startup Closes Funding For Farm Fertility Chemical Testing Kit

April 10, 2020
Nordetect’s “lab on a chip” enables on-the-spot chemical analysis of soil, leaf samples, manure, water and other organic materials.

A Danish agritech firm that developed a “lab on a chip” to help farmers discern where their land was more or less fertile closes a funding round for the device and test kit, according to an article from Tech.eu. The innovation, from Copenhagen-based Nordetect, reportedly uses nanosensors and nitrogen, phosphorus and kalium to test soil, leaf samples, manure, water and other organic materials. A GPS feature helps farmers track the testing samples. The device includes a software platform that reportedly integrates with currently available farm management software.

The biochemical startup, established in 2016, receives funding from Rockstart, PreSeed Ventures, SOSV and Luminate Venture Corp., according to the article. Nordetect CEO Keenan Pinto says the funding will be used to bring the product closer to market.
