Sterling Pharma Solutions Announces Acquisition Of U.S. API Facility

Oct. 2, 2020
The new facility will bolster Sterling’s US presence and will provide additional capacity for customer API development and manufacturing projects, specifically those with complex and hazardous requirements.

Global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) Sterling Pharma Solutions acquires Alcami’s Germantown, Wisconsin facility. The company says the new facility will bolster Sterling’s U.S. presence and will provide additional capacity for customer API development and manufacturing projects, specifically those with complex and hazardous requirements.

The Germantown facility reportedly houses state-of-the-art cGMP development, scale-up and manufacturing facilities and has specialist expertise in handling technologies including plant-scale hydrogenation and cryogenic reactions. The acquisition follows Sterling’s sustained growth over the past four years, which has seen the company invest $46 million into its service offering, including a recent $1.5 million investment into the company’s Cary facility in the U.S., according to the company.

The announcement follows several expansion projects, including Alcami’s buildout of the sterile manufacturing site in Charleston, SC and the TriPharm acquisition completed in January 2020. Alcami is reportedly adding substantial sterile manufacturing and laboratory capacity with best-in-class facility and equipment design.
