Dow Suspends Contributions To Politicians Opposing Election Results

Jan. 13, 2021
The Dow Chemical Company is suspending all corporate and employee PAC contributions to any member of Congress who voted to object to the certification of the presidential election.

The Dow Chemical Company joins a growing list of companies including hotel chain Marriott and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association who say they will not donate to politicians who objected to the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory, according to an article from The Hill. Dow’s announcement comes in the wake of a siege on the U.S. Capitol last week by a crowd of Trump supporters.

In a statement, the company reportedly said, “Dow is immediately suspending all corporate and employee political action committee (PAC) contributions to any member of Congress who voted to object to the certification of the presidential election.” Dow, stating that it is “committed to the principles of democracy and the peaceful transfer of power,” will impose the suspension for a single election cycle, according to the article.
