DuPont, Spinoffs Will Pay $50M To Clean Up PFAS In Delaware

This is the first time the state’s Department of Justice has resolved environmental damage claims on behalf of the state.

As part of “the most significant environmental settlement that the State of Delaware has ever secured,” DuPont and two spinoff companies will pay at least $50M to help clean up toxic chemicals including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, according to WTOP News. DuPont and Corteva will reportedly pay $12.5M while Chemours will contribute $25M to fund the cleanup.

According to WTOP News, this is the first time the state’s Department of Justice has resolved environmental damage claims on behalf of the state. The settlement will reportedly pay for environmental restoration, improvement, sampling and analysis, community environmental justice and equity grants and other natural resource needs.
