DuPont Supports Project Traveler With Alkylation Technology

Feb. 17, 2020
Next Wave Energy Partners contracts DuPont Clean Technologies for Stratko alkylation technology.

DuPont Clean Technologies (DuPont) is awarded the contract to supply Next Wave Energy Partners (Next Wave) with licensing, engineering and proprietary equipment for a Stratco alkylation unit near the Houston Ship Channel in Pasadena, Texas, known as Project Traveler. In order to meet North America’s growing octane demand and desire for cleaner-burning gasoline, Next Wave commissions DuPont for a Stratco alkylation unit with 28,000 bpsd of alkylate production capacity from an ethylene feedstock.

The Stratco alkylation unit will enable Next Wave to generate low-sulfur, high-octane, low-Rvp alkylate with zero olefins that reportedly exceeds the current U.S. gasoline specifications with an octane greater than 96.0 (R+M)/2. Startup is targeted for mid-2022.
