BASF Will Share Carbon Footprint For 45,000 Products

Aug. 17, 2020
BASF will release emissions data for entire product portfolio.

By being transparent about its emissions data, BASF hopes to help customers shrink the carbon footprint of their own activities and end products, according to an article from Environment & Energy Leader. The company reportedly plans to release carbon dioxide emissions data for its entire product portfolio – around 45,000 products.

According to the article, BASF has calculated information on its product carbon footprint (PCF) since 2007, using production network data and average data for purchased raw materials and purchased energy – a methodology that follows general standards for life cycle analysis. The company will reportedly start sharing information on select product and customer segments over the next several months before making the PCF data available for all its products by the end of 2021.
