The government of New South Wales demonstrates its support for quantum computing with a $26 million fund earmarked for its commercialization, according to an article from CIO.com. The money will reportedly support researchers “to further developments in the field and make NSW a global hub for advanced training.”
According to CIO, the NSW government is eager to maintain its position in what is called the new “space race” – the race to build the world’s first quantum computer. The government is reportedly considering possible use cases for quantum computing including more precise weather forecasting, better encryption, more efficient chemical processing methods and improved traffic analysis.
