American Chemical Society Extends Open Access Program

Nov. 1, 2013
The program includes the launch next year of the society’s first completely open-access peer-reviewed journal, ACS Central Science.

The American Chemical Society, Washington, D.C., has announced what it calls a far-reaching expansion of its open-access publishing options. The program includes the launch next year of the society’s first completely open-access peer-reviewed journal, ACS Central Science. In addition, starting in January, ACS will highlight one article per day from its 40 peer-reviewed journals; the articles chosen will be open access and the authors will not have to pay publishing fees. Also, ACS will provide credits to authors of open-access papers to stimulate further open-access publications, and will expand the roster of options for fee-based open-access publishing.
