I receive a lot of mail-order catalogs. I'm certain the avalanche is due to the one item I actually purchased several years ago. Now every catalog known to the civilized world is delivered to my mailbox.
I suppose I could figure out a way to get off of these mailing lists, but truth be told I enjoy leafing through the pages and window shopping from home. The latest catalog I received (Computer Gear – Fun gifts for tech enthusiasts) has a lot of gifts for engineers. There is even a breakdown by industry. Some of the chemical-engineering-based gifts are too good not to share with you.
On the T-Shirt slogan front:
• "If you're not part of the solution, then you are part of the precipitate."
• "What part of PbO2 + 2H2SO4 + Pb --> 2PbSO4 + 2H2O Don't you understand?
• "Varsity Chemistry"
Other T-Shirts feature caffeine molecules or chocolate molecules. And one has the Periodic Table of Elements complete with glow-in-the-dark radioactive elements.
For the record, I am not affiliated with the above-mentioned catalog and will not receive a percentage of sales if folks flock to the site and order gifts for the upcoming holiday season. I just wanted to share the humor. Also, I'm hoping that someone will tell me what this formula is: PbO2 + 2H2SO4 + Pb --> 2PbSO4 + 2H2O.
The answer may get you a free T-Shirt. Please submit your answer via the comment option on this blog. I will randomly choose one winner who will receive a T-Shirt of their choice from the above options. Thanks in advance!
