No One Knows What To Make Of Starkey Steuernagle

I get to meet a lot of interesting people via my role at Chemical Processing. Recently I had the pleasure of meeting J.R. "Starkey" Steuernagle, general manager of Woodex Bearing Co. Inc. And for the record, Steuernagle is pronounced SHTOY-ur-noggle.

Starkey and I taped a video at the 2010 Powder & Bulk Solids show. But before you view the video, I'd like to share with you an excerpt from his bio page at Woodex:

Starkey and I taped a video at the 2010 Powder & Bulk Solids show. But before you view the video, I'd like to share with you an excerpt from his bio page at Woodex:

"Nobody at Woodex knows quite what to make of Starkey. As far as he's concerned, that's so much the better. A native of northwestern Pennsylvania, Starkey arrived on the Maine coast as a Navy enlisted man and never left. Rumors that he spent several years living in trees and abandoned cars are just that, but he encourages them, nonetheless.

A one-time calligrapher and engrosser, in 1988 he abandoned a career in printing and graphic arts to develop a technical service organization for Woodex's MECO Custom shaft seals."
