According to Collins the current bill works well and with Homeland Security, the existing law has helped to "develop a comprehensive chemical security program."
Members of the chemical industry agree, noting that the current law is working and gave praise to Collins and her co-authors Democratic Sens. Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.
We are one step closer, but the legislation still has a ways to go. Committees in the House have passed both H.R. 901 and 908 with bi-partisan support. The House leadership will have to decide which bill to back and both the House and Senate bills will have to go to the floor for voting.
