File This In Your Very Own Paperless Filing Cabinet

April 11, 2012

I love Reader's Digest. There, I said it. I love a digest magazine that attracts an older demographic. I've loved it for a long time. For as long as I can remember my mother has had a subscription and as a gift several years ago, she ordered me my own subscription. I read every single page of the magazine, but never in order. I poke around and find something that piques my interest at any given moment. I can read about 50 secrets my vet, waitress, carpenter, or dentist won't tell me. I can read about Life In These United States. I can test my word power.

A recent tool I stumbled across is Evernote.

Evernote is an online filing cabinet that lets you save whole web pages, parts of web pages, images, personal notes, work notes, URLs, photos, travel itineraries – virtually anything and everything. Everything you save is considered a "note" and gets placed in your notebook. You can tag your notes so that you can access them easily (think of it as putting tabs on pages in the notebook). You can also share your notebook/notes with co-workers, friends and family. The notebook/notes are accessible from any computer or mobile device. It's a free, downloadable tool that waits at the ready when you want to save something worth remembering.

Check out the site for a quick look at what the tool can do. And here is a short video that highlights just some of the features.
