Another Breaking Bad Fix Via ACS Video

Jan. 1, 2000

My name is Traci and I have never watched Breaking Bad. I've heard many good things about it and I always contemplated watching it, but time got away from me and seasons changed and I was worried I would never catch up. Yes, I know there's always Netflix. . . and maybe someday I will check out the grip that chemistry-teacher-turned-meth-overlord Walter White had on oodles of viewers. And after reading a press release from the American Chemical Society touting that Breaking Bad had the goods on true-to-life chemistry, I am even more apt to watch.

In the video, Donna Nelson, Ph.D., a scientific consultant for the series, details how she works with the show’s writers to keep the scientific content accurate. This includes providing the chemical structures Walter White draws on his blackboard and calculating exactly how much methamphetamine could be produced from a 30-gallon drum of methylamine. The video leads in with the fact that I have been living under a rock, but that's OK. And I think that Donna Nelson looks a lot like Donna Reed, but with that know-how-to-make-meth edge. You be the judge: http://youtu.be/FWgAvSGE5_U
