Operations Contest Is No Fluke

Oct. 22, 2015

Dangle gifts and an all-expenses-paid trip in front of a college student and chances are you’ll get a fair amount of interest. If said gifts are tools that the student will use when they enter the workforce, it’s a brilliant way for manufacturers to showcase their products and instill a sense of familiarity and then allegiance to the products.

The Fluke Corp. invites students enrolled in two- and four-year colleges, universities, trade/tech schools, and apprenticeship programs in the United States to demonstrate their skills and innovation in the 2015 Fluke Connect Student Contest. The first place team and their advisor will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to visit Fluke Park in Everett, Wash., for three days and two nights plus $3,500 worth of Fluke tools for the school’s department.

Student teams must design a project that uses the Fluke Connect wireless system to improve operations for a facility or client. Applications and business cases are due by Nov. 6. A panel of judges will select five teams to compete, each of which will receive up to 10 Fluke Connect tools plus Fluke Connect software to implement their project. The teams have three months to make their projects work and submit their final reports, including photos and video. Visit the Student Contest page for more information.

Want to learn more about Fluke Connect? Check out the short video that features Gordon, the lead technician. Apologies to Gordon, but it’s fun to watch him type his messages to other team members. He’s very animated and moves his mouth as he types.
