The Chemical Industry Hits the Big Apple

Oct. 23, 2003
Biennial CHEM SHOW to be held Nov. 18-Nov.20

This year marks the 50th CHEM SHOW, which will be held Nov. 18 through Nov. 20, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Billed as America's largest process equipment and technology exposition, the 2003 Chem Show will boast over 700 manufacturers and suppliers and the largest, most comprehensive conference program in the event's history.

CHEM SHOW sessions will be developed around four major tracks: Powder Processing; Process Controls and Automation; Maintenance; and Process Integration. These areas correspond to the show's three product pavilions and the new product technology theater, where visitors can hear presentations about new products and technologies being highlighted on the show floor. Featured products cover a broad range of chemical plant hardware and equipment.

Gary Anderson, Dow Corning Corp.'s chairman and CEO, will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, November 18 at 9 a.m. in the South concourse of the convention center. In his speech, "Lessons From the Past; New Strategies for the Future," Anderson will address specific challenges the chemical industry faces, as well as strategies for increasing growth and reducing costs through the use of new business models. He also will provide examples to demonstrate benefits that can be achieved through risk-taking, disrupting the status quo and maintaining a customer focus.

The show's conference program will feature more than 20 technical sessions, management forums, operations workshops, tutorials and short courses that address various industry trends, innovations and developments. With more than 70 presentations split among seven tracks, attendees will be able to create customized programs to meet their needs. (For more information about the conference program, see the sidebar.)

CHEM SHOW endorsing organizations include the Fluid Sealing Association; the Instrumentation , Systems and Automation Society; the Fluid Controls Institute; and the Valve Manufacturers Association. Publications including Chemical Processing, Control, Plant Services and Processing magazine, also support the show.
